Job Summary:
The Home Health Aide provides personal care such as complex transfers, special diet preparation, simple, non-sterile dressings, vital signs and intake and output records under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Therapist.
Education/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Satisfactory completion of agency qualifying exam
- One year of experience within the past two years as a Nurse Aide in a hospital or long-term care facility OR one year full time experience within the past two years or two years part time experience within the last three years as Home Health Aide providing care that is designated by a Registered Nurse and is included on a physician's plan of treatment OR on year as a PCA, who also has completed a formal training course that meets the following: The course contents include the duties listed below OR Is minimally 40 hours in duration or per state regulation
- Proof of at least 40 hours of training, (pursuant to Florida Statute 400.497(1)). This training will be evidenced by: A diploma issued by a vocational school approved by the Florida Department of Education OR Home Health Aide documentation issued by another health care agency pursuant to Florida Statute 400.497(1) and F.A.C 59A- 8,0095 (5) (f), (Home Health Aides who are trained in another state must provide documentation of course completion to the employing home health agency.) OR Have passed the Home Health Aide two-part competency test, pursuant to F.A.C 59A-8,0095 (5) as evidence by documentation of same by this Home Health agency or, another Home Health agency. OR Be a certified nursing assistant, as evidenced by CNA certificate form the state of Florida or other state, who has also successfully passed the AHCA competency exam. (CNA's from out of state who want to obtain a Florida CNA certificate can contact the Florida Certified Nursing Assistant office at the Department of Health to inquire about taking the written examination, pursuant to 464.203, F.S) OR Be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing who is willing to take the board exams for licensure in Florida. OR Be a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse who can show proof they are licensed in another state.
- Must have current HIV training and ADRD training
- Current CPR/First Aid certification if state or program requirement
- Possess an empathetic attitude toward the care and treatment of patients/clients
- Ability to read and write English
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit, stand and walk on variable surfaces
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear
- Occasionally required to reach beyond mid-line of body overhead/chest level
- Occasionally use hand controls including grip using one or both hands
- Occasionally climb ramps or stairs or use foot controls
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Employees are required to utilize universal safety precautions while performing their job tasks
- Ability to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum of 50lbs
- Ability to stoop and bend up to 2.5 hours per 8 hour shift
