Tax Accountant

Position Summary: The Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing and analyzing federal book/tax differences for tax provisions and return filings. This role ensures compliance with tax laws by managing key book-tax differences, monitoring federal and state tax law changes, and assisting with financial statements. The Tax Accountant will also be involved in tax research, fixed asset reconciliations, and responding to tax notices. Additionally, they will contribute to process improvements, maintain internal controls, and support M&A activities related to tax implications.

Essential Duties:

  • Preparation and analysis of federal book/tax differences for provision and tax returns preparation.
  • Monitors key book tax differences such as 162(m) calculation, excess tax benefits, tax credits, amortization and depreciation.
  • Analyze and update tax fixed asset ledger and reconciliations.
  • Assistance with financial statement reporting for the quarterly and annual tax provision under ASC 740.
  • Prepares and files federal, state, and local tax returns including extensions, and quarterly estimated payments.
  • Management of company annual reports, property tax return, use tax, and other tax compliances.
  • Management of responses to tax notices, exam information requests, and other correspondence.
  • Assist tax department to continuously improve and streamline tax processes.
  • Assist in maintaining required internal controls for the tax department.
  • Participate in M&A focusing on the tax aspects of acquisitions, dispositions, and post-closing integration.
  • Manage the Company and its related subsidiaries in every jurisdiction where the Company does business.
  • Monitor federal and state tax law changes and consequences to US businesses.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educations opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Conduct tax research as needed.
  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality at all times due to access to sensitive information
  • Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department
  • Follows all Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA regulations and requirements
  • Abides by all regulations, policies, procedures and standards
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Position Requirements & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Master’s degree is preferred
  • 1-3 years tax experience
  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Strong proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with tax preparation software – preferably Thomson Reuters OneSource Income Tax.
