Home Health Aide

Department: Clinical Aides
Location: Oak Ridge, TN

What You’ll Do:

  • Providing hands-on personal care including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, changing bed linen, assisting patients with dressing and undressing, skin care to prevent breakdown, assisting the patient with toileting activities, and keeping patient’s living area clean and orderly, as appropriate.
  • Planning and preparing nutritious meals.
  • Assisting in feeding the patient, if necessary.
  • Transport client to doctor’s office, grocery store and other essential errands.
  • Assisting in ambulation and exercise according to the plan of care.
  • Assisting patient in the self-administration of medication.
  • Doing patient’s laundry, as appropriate.
  • Meeting safety needs of patients and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, etc.).
  • Reporting on patient’s condition and significant changes to the assigned nurse.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality at all times due to access to sensitive information.
  • Maintain regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department.
  • Follow all Medicare, Medicaid, and HIPAA regulations and requirements.
  • Abide by all regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • One-year experience in hospital or nursing home setting.
  • Completed recognized nurse assistant training program desired.
  • At least 18 years of age and is a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
  • Displays initiative and able to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired.
  • Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
  • Possess and maintain valid CPR certification, if required.
  • Must have reliable transportation, current driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance; or ability to take public transportation
